just flip them into a clean vial but uncapping the new vial, tap the old vial with the flies on a desktop until the flies fall to the bottom, put the new vial on top of the old vial, flip both over, tap it on the desk to let the flies go into the new vial and cap both. you don't need to put all of them in, just at least a couple of males and females.

If your school lab has ether, ask your teacher to help you. A few drops on a cotton ball at the mouth of the jar for a few seconds should be enough to get them sleepy and transfer them to another jar. Be careful to not leave too long or they will not wake up again!

The way we used in Biology was to put the culture in the freezer for 3 mins and they get droopy and then transfer them.

Another way is to use ether..but i don't know if you have that.
Good luck.
May I ask what you are doing with them?
What kind are they? (white eye,red eye, curly wing)?
