They weigh the same amount. A pound is a pound is a pound. It would take many more feathers than rocks to MAKE that pound, but in the end you get the same.

That would depend on how you are defining "weight". Are you measuring weight as in gravitational pull or are you figuring weight as in mass and density. Obviously if you weigh a pound of feathers an enviroment devoid of air and/or gravity then proceed to weigh the same bundle of feathers in an enviroment with air and gravity the weight would not be the same. However, the difference between the two measurements for the rocks should be closer than that of the feathers because you would not be weighing as much air with the rocks due to their density.

They both weigh the same amount but are dissimilar in stature. Can you imagine how bulky a pound of feathers are compared to the insignificant one pound rock? Maybe the question should be, which would you prefer to be recognized as: One pound of a whole lot of nothings or one pound of a small but well formed rock?

They are both a pound so they both weigh the same. One pound of rocks have more mass and one pound of feathers have more volume but they both weigh the same. One pound.

They are the same weight and mass.
I think you have only a part of the philosophical question:
Would you rather be hit with a pound of rocks or a pound of feathers?
Of course the answer is we'd rather be hit by 1 pound of feathers. Right?
There is also a tricky technical question:
What weighs more, a pound of lead or a pound of gold?
The pound of lead.
Gold is measured in the Troy ounce and 1 pound of Gold = 373.24 g
Lead is measured in the Avoirdupois ounce and 1 pound of Lead = 453.59 g

On a scale is one thing...
But try carrying say 50 lbs of feathers
compared to an easily transported dumbell of the same weight.
I will take the dumbell any day of the week.
Likewise with water sloshing in a barell.
It takes much more work and energy to move such variegated quantities.
