I thought it was creepy - and being a Catholic, even though I feel I don't believe in demons or exorcisms, it creeped me just knowing this was based on a real girl's life. I don't think this movie was intended to be classified as "horror" - but with the word "exorcism" what else do we expect.

The best part was this:

When they got to the scene where they showed her "before" and "after" pictures in the court saying "She was 19", some guy in the theatre audience yelled out "What the ****?! More like a hundred and nineteen!!"

No one could stop laughing.

I enjoyed that it was part courtroom drama/part scary experience. I cringed for her, and thought it was very well done. It didn't contain over-the-top horror and had enough elements to scare me and then tame me. Great acting all around, I love Laura Linney and Tom Wilkinson.

Not really scary. I did like the 3:15 explaination though.

Good movie, it was entertaining for about an hour and a half. The spiritual or religious implications I'll leave to you to make up your mind on.

It belittled psychiatry and mental illness which is a serious disease

My dad suffers from paranoid schizophrenia and bipolar disorder which is helped by medicine given by his psychatrist.

My dad is not possessed by imaginary devils, he has "bad wiring" in his brain

I liked it, it wasnt quite as scarey as I thought it would be but the fact that it was based on a true story always makes movies better to me.....I like all that stuff like possession, demons stuff like that so it was very cool to me
