You must be young. Why would you lose sleep over something like that? Be thankful that you have a best friend to vent to and confide in. I mean, is it really the worst thing in the world to have parents that don't care to get involved in your drama? Could be that you have drama-ed them out & they don't want to hear it anymore.

Sometimes what ideally should happen doesn't. That's just life, and you are fortunate that you at least have an outlet for expressing the things that are important to you. Yes, it would be great if your parents did listen to you, but for whatever reason ( according to you) they don't. It's vital that you make the best of what you do have and avoid the temptation to wallow in the grief over what you don't have or you will eventually squander that resource, too. And occasionally, listen to someone else ( to gain another perspective and step outside of yourself for a moment) and resist the urge to try to "one-up" their problems ( even if you easily can). Why would you want to do that? Because to have a friend, you've got to be a friend...and it's time you were a friend to yourself, too. Good luck to you.

Brah, if you want to change peoples opinions about you and get some help on this site then change the "about" section of your profile. You claim to be a rocker who likes to mess with peoples heads. What do you expect?

Okay, now to answer your question. It is not wrong that you consider your friends as your family. You will come to eventually realize that having two sets of families can be rewarding in itself. Those problems which your friends cannot address your real family will be able to and vice versa. If it seems like your parents are blowing you off it is only because they are tired from work and need time to themselves. Besides, there are many things that you will have to answer for yourself in order to grow as an individual. If you always rely on others to answer your questions you will never be able to handle those important life changing challenges that we all face in our lifetimes. In an advertant way, your parents are allowing you to grow and mature on your own. Try looking at it from their perspective. They have worked very hard to put a roof over your head, food on the table, clothes on your back and give you a decent education. The rest is now up to you.
As for only having your friend Kendra listen to you...consider yourself lucky. A lot of people don't have anyone to listen to them until they have to end up paying a therapist to do so. Be glad that Kendra is there for you and afford her the same courtesy and respect that she has given to you. Good luck my bruddah!

i hate people these days, no one listens any more, what is wrong with people today, no one listens anymore, and this kendra sounds like she really listens and if you are a guy and she is a girl (or vise versa) you might want to pursue something beyond friendship

be grateful someone will listen, there are those who have no one to listen to them. Listening is a skill that many don't have, they'd rather talk than listen. We have two ears and one mouth for a reason.....

Then have your Parents to take you to a physiologist, He or She will surly listen to you for a big prize to boot. I bet your parents will want to listen to you when you suggest this to them.

I'm sure your parents will listen if you simply go up to them and repeat the following, "I have a problem, blah blah blah, what do you think?"

maybe your parents are listening and maybe they think the best way to solve your problems is to work them out your self...
