You will spend more on it than you can buy another, more powerful vehicle with. I work with a guy that is a "tuner", he puts his whole paycheck into his little CRX and for what? So that I can drive my 327 Impala to work, which cost me a total of 2400 in engine work to blow the doors off it, and blow it out my tailpipes. Get a V8 car, you will spend less and enjoy it more.

There is no cheap way to do that. I mean you can try tune-up but it will only help to bring the engine to its top shape. There are things like modified camshafts and stuff like this, but it will be cheaper to buy a different car with more power. Especially if it's 3A model engine - there is not much you can do with it, I know, it does feel a bit week...
