As you drive straight, there is very little need for power assist in your steering, therefore, the control valve in the steering gear by-passes the need. When you turn (either direction) the control valve senses the need for hydraulic assistance and delivers pressure from your power steering pump to the gear.
This causes higher pressure in the hose from the pump to the gear, which is why it only leaks on turns.
All that is needed is to replace the pressure hose.
This is something that most do-it-yerselfers can do with minimal experience or tools.

NOTE:- If there is going to be a period of time before replacement (Money, time, etc) then be sure to keep Power Steering or Automatic Transmission fluid in the pump. If you don't, you can cause the pump to burn up, and then you will lose your power assistance, possibly causing an handling problem leading to loss of control.

You may have developed a leak in the high pressure line of your power steering system. It is under a lot of fluid pressure when you turn the wheel, which pushes the fluid out of the leak when you turn the wheel. It is not under high pressure when you are not turning the wheel. I would suggest getting someone else to turn the wheel while sitting still, while you look under the hood to see where the fluid is squirting from, or take it in for repairs.

the first answer is pretty good. but if any lines have been replaced in the past and are still good then check where they are connected. sometimes just a littlest bit of dirt or a grain of sand in the threds will cause the leak. if there is an o-ring where they connect then check it and or replace it.
