You know how when you're talking to your bf or gf, and your Mom walks in the room, and you kinda stop talking until she leaves the room? Well here's a new one. My daughter was on line chatting, I walk in the room and she stops typing, soon as i leave the room, I hear her start typing up a storm, how funny! Do you do that?

It's the same principle. We don't want you to know what we're talking about. I'm in college and I still do it when my mom's around. I also go in another room when my friends call because my mom will say crazy stuff when I'm trying to talk to them.

Usually when kids stop typing while the parents around, and then start typing again when they leave, they're usually saying, "Oh my god, my mom's such a retard, can you believe she did this and that the other day? how EMBARRASSING!!!" From my own personal experience, anyway.

I know I'd be a horrible parent because of this, but I'd want to know what she was typing when I left the room.

Yeah, I did used to do that when I was living with my folks. It's not even because I was always talking about something bad. Usually, I just had this subconscious desire to not let my mom or dad know anything about my life unless I told her personally.

It's a weird thing kids have, like a subconscious rebellion thing. Go figure.

That's one of the funniest things I've ever heard... like your daughter actually thinks you can hear what she's typing from the keyboard noise.

You should freak her out and tell her that the keystroke capture device you installed works just as well whether you're in the room or not!

I have always been one of those people that when I am chatting with someone online or on the phone I want my privacy. I am not saying anything bad about people but I just feel I am sharing a special moment with someone on the phone and I want to give them all of my attention. For your daughter though I would be more informed on what she is doing. Just ask!

Yea its an invasion of privacy if you just sneak up on her like that. She could be typing something really nasty and you walk in and ruin the moment. If she does that she has something to hide. When my man walks in and I am typing to a friend I stop and pull up the "game" page so it looks like I am playing online games all night instead of chatting.

I do actually. I'm not sure why, maybe because they might want to talk to me so I give them my attention? Also, I think if I continue to type they might try to sneak a look without me noticing because I'm paying attention to what I'm typing. Though sometimes I look at them while continuing to type, that's the best I think.

Yes, I have done that before. What is funnier is that she might not have realized that you could hear her type! Then again, she was just waiting until you were out of the room again, I suppose.

That is funny.
When someone comes toward the PC I stop what I'm doing. I'm in the livingroom so it's hard to say.

Yes I do the same thing and the same thing happens when i do it. I ask thou who she's talking to , or what's she up to. When she can't have an answer for me then I know something is up. I then ask questions because that's what parents need to do to make sure your child is not being inappropriate.
