It sounds like he has cradle cap, which is when the scalp gets flaky. There is a product out there, I believe that it is called cradle cap treatment by baby orajel, all you do is rub it in really well and then comb the scalp to loosen the flakes and wash it out, I use it twice on my baby and his scalp isn't flaky anymore. Also, my doctor gave my son some tylenol right before he got his shots, so it's ok to do that, just make sure that you don't give too much.

Tylenol is Good to give them before shots...they don't hurt as much and it helps get a head start on the fever. I can only use certain kinds or lotions and soaps on my son cuz he has very sensitive skin...lots of babies do...I would try lotions that say hypoallergenic, not all are sensitive enough but you will find the right brand..also scented lotions early cause rashes.

I would defiantly ask your pediatrician about giving your baby any medication...I gave my daughter Baby Tylenol before her shots at her 4 and 6 month visit her doctor said it was perfectly safe in the right dosage of course. Your baby having dry skin is perfectly normal his skin is still getting use to the outside world..I am almost positive that all baby lotions are safe but if you are worried bring the lotion you have selected for your baby with you to the doctor and ask for your peace of mind...Good Luck!

I used baby lotion on all three of my babies when they came home from the hospital and it never hurt-ed them. If you are a little on edge about it, then try the baby bath wash that has lotion in it. That should work, but I was never afraid to use lotion. My babies always had Tylenol before shots, but I can't remember how much to give a two month old. Our doctors office always gave it to our kids when they were that young. Just ask your doctor how much to give him. It won't hurt to give it to him at the doctors office right before they give him his shots. Just take it with you. Good luck

I was told by my Pediatrician to not use baby lotion when the baby had real dry skin, but to use Keri or Lubriderm Lotion istead. Baby lotion always burned and made my daughters chapped/Dry skin real red. On wind chapped skin I used Vasoline per my Mom and it was the best thing for it.
My pediatrician said to only give my 2mth old Tylenol if they need it not before or after unless they cry........Before getting her shots for the 1st time my Mother told to give her tylenol right before or right after well my husband wanted to go by what the doctor said no matter what my mom said......30minutes after we got home she was wailing and you could tell it was having a bad affect on her and she was in pain.....My husband teared up and felt like the worst Dad for not listening to Grandma's advice. He always takes my Moms advice into heavy consideration now. She has never had a shot since without getting Tylenol right before or after.

Lotion and Tylenol are okay, just make sure it's tylenol only, not ty-cold, or flu... or other combos... which contain pseudoephedrine... which is harmful for a baby.
just that pure acetaminophen... for babies.
Face problem will go away soon... Give him time. All babies go throug an "ugly face" stage... later he will have some pimple looking things, and that's all just hormones.

Most baby lotions have perfumes and dyes, which can be problematic for some babies. A couple of good brands that are very, very gentle are Burt's Bees and California Baby.
And yes, Tylenol before shots is a good idea. Just be sure to use infant and not children's strength
And congrats to you and your new little one!

Any lotion that is made for babies should be safe if you want a very gentle one I know huggies makes one for newborns it's in a blue bottle I think. As for the Tylenol my ped always has me give my twins some before their shots call the office and find out how much you should give.

Baby lotions contain harsh perfumes and dies. They also contain petroleum products which block the absorption of water. It is hard to get oil off a duck after an oil spill because the oil is hard to penetrate. It’s kind of the same with your skin. I suggest you use a more natural product like, young living, burts bees, arbone, etc. Especially if your child has sensitive skin or eczema. Good Luck!

I was told by my son's doctor to give Tylenol about 30 minutes before shots and my son was born 11 weeks early and it was totally safe. Just make sure you call the doc before you give it to him because you have to give the right ammount for their weight. My son was at Children's hospital and they used regular baby soaps and shampoos and he was fine.
