ice sickle, I wasn't saying that the U.S. wasn't in the world cup, it's just that I hear a lot of conservatives on tv bashing on the world cup, sorry if I wasn't clear.

Oil for Food & hooliganism...

Not against countries coming together but against organizations that want the U.S.A. to give up its sovereignty. As for the world cup, soccer is boring and we suck at it. As for the U.N., who respects any organization that makes idle threats and does nothing about it. The U.N. also puts countries like Libya on the human rights commission. All Americans love the Olympics. We also work great with NATO. Look at the big picture not just a few examples.

I'm confused.. Was America not in the world cup? They tied Italy... which happened to be the winning team.. but they were unfortunately beat by Ghana and the Czech Republic so they were at the bottom of their group which happened to be group E so they didn't move on to the round of sixteen. I know this because watched every game that I possibly could because I LOVE the World Cup, and I am very conservative.
As far as the UN, didn't Bush and Blair just say that they were proposing a plan to work with the UN in his latest press conference. Maybe I just see different conservatives... I don't know.

Maybe Conservatives just don't like the UN because they stole money from the Oil for Food program and got away with it while at the same time censuring others for what they do.

We did participate in the World Cup = so?

Who said it's conservatives that are alone in disliking bringing countries together? I don't see Liberals do much of anything............well other than complain as they guzzle their beer.

Just read some of the comments here and you can see it for yourself.

Sounds like your spewing a bit of Left Wing Democratic garbage. Before believing all you hear, research both sides of the issue and decide for your self.

Don't believe all that your told by teachers or college professors. Just because someone has a few degrees and diplomas does not make them smart.

Although I will admit, I do not trust the UN

The UN was never meant to be a Governing body, but too many are will to make it such.

Do you mean things like free trade? I'd hardly say they're against that. As for the U.N., a lot of people, me included, have trouble handing over command of the largest army in the world to an organization that has Libya on its human-rights commission.

The conservatives promote trade not hand outs. They promote being responsible, not entitlements.

Both parties are to the left of the Democrats Lord & Savior JFK. Judge for yourself his anagural address. Ask not what your country can do for you ask what you can do for your country. Go out get a good education by studing. Then take that education & create wealth for the world. Some of the wealth you create will come back into your pockets.

you have it wrong... the conservatives just hate any event or organization that brings countries together that they can't control or make money off of... or both...

the U.N. (which they have a lot of control over even) and world Cup are key examples... also they complain about the EU too..

well actually they complain about ANYTHING that they can't make money off of or control... so I guess it's a universal rule...

Why do liberals protest every time the US tries?

I guess you forgot that many of the Democratic senators boycotted the visit by the Iraqi prime minister.

Way to show off our generosity.
