Since I can't actually see your face, it'd probably be a good idea to talk to your folks or a friend who will give you straight, honest advice.

Otherwise, I say shave it... Moustaches AREN'T cool (unless a part of a well-groomed but full beard). So shave - and don't waste anytime doing this. If you haven't shaved before, ask your dad (or mom or big brother or a friend) for help so you don't hack up your young face.

Good luck with the awkward years; they actually go way more quickly than you'd think!

Cheers :)

---ps--- It is a MYTH that shaving makes hair grow faster. BUT shaving will make the hair look more coarse when (if) it grows in again.
The simple solution is to keep shaving semi-regularly!

Shave it now. This is the Best Time to start shaving. You don't have to worry so much about missing a spot since you don't have much hair yet. I suggest you talk to as many guys as possible. By guys I mean guys who know as much or preferably a lot more about shaving than you. One good way to get advice is to go to a Barber shop and talk to a guy who shaves himself and others. Hope that helps.

P.S. PLEASE I BEG YOU. DO NOT GROW SOME CHEESY BEARD.

Keep shaving it until you can tell that it's fuller, then try growing it out to see if you like it. Wait a year or so.

I'm 15 with the same thing. Definitely shave it. You'll get better luck with the ladies hopefully.

I knew someone that had a thin mustache, barely visible. I am not sure if he shaved it, but it began to darken..
I also know of someone that shaves in hopes of his mustache becoming thicker, darken.. after a great many years, still nothing.
Do what pleases you..

If you want it to grow, keep shaving it. Even if it doesnt look like there is much there, shave it....it will make it grow faster and fuller. (trouble is...it's a double edged sword...when you get older, you will HAVE to shave it)

i don't think waiting will make a difference of how the hair will grow back. if it grows back thicker now, it will grow back thicker if you wait a year. i think you should shave. 16 is not to young to start. there is no reason to wait, unless you like it. good luck.

it depends on how the moustache will look on your face. sometimes it makes people look better but sometimes, i just want to shave it for them myself.
