The earth and the sun are like two balls. The sun emits light, the earth does not. The earth moves around the sun once every 365 days. The earth also rotates once every 24 hours. During the daytime, the side of the earth that you are on faces the sun. During the night time, the side of the earth that you are on faces away from the sun. You are in the shadow of the earth during the night and cannot see the sun and the sun's light does not reach you. The color black represents the absence of light, and the sky is black at night because no light is coming from the sky except for the stars. The stars are like the sun, except they are much farther away so they dont have the same effect that the sun does.

Because it might signify there are holes in heaven, or that theres is more evil out there than good, or maybe when u die the colors switch. In all actuality thats the way we need it.
