It is hard to describe notation in this type of format but here goes:

Radical notation is the square root symbol, where we put smaller on the left the root (if it is 2 we leave it out)

Exponent notation is where we put the root as a fraction on the right top as the exponent

So the square root of x would be (x)^1/2 or x^.5
So cubed root of x would be (x)^1/3

So the similarity...the base
it can be on the left as a number with radical sign
or on the right as (1/base)
