the emergency brake sensor light comes off and on and when i accelerate it comes on and decelerate or stop it goes off. i've checked to make sure the e-brake is off?

The switch that senses whether the e-brake handle is pulled, is either loose or needs to be adjusted. I would bet that just the force of accelerating or decelerating is moving the handle or switch just enough to cause the switch to sense it.

Your problem MAY not be the E-Brake, but the brake fluid level indicator. Many times Toyota uses the same light for both. Check the Master Cylinder for fluid level. If it is low, you can add a LITTLE fluid, but don't fill it up. This is an indication that it may be time for front brake pad replacement.

Had same problem, check your brake fluid, may be low. The light is also a fluid level sensor.

Brake cables are not fully releasing. Lube cables and mechanisms under vehicle with penetrating oil.
