What do you think the "end of model year" sales are? Did you imagine some big stockpile of unsold vehicles from previous model years somewhere? Doesn't happen.

As the model year ends, they get discoutned until someone buiys them off a lot. I got my 2004 VW Golf that way and saved over $5000. The trick is finding the balance between having last years models left on the lot and buying one befor ethey are all sold out to others who are doing the same sort of thing. Don't expect to find any dirt cheap, as they often take any that are like this and use them for dealer demos. That lets the dealer write off part of the cost and then turn around and resell the car as a certified used car.

Definitely not recycled, but they do get discounted. And it's funny, even after being on a lot for over a year, and then being discounted, there's still a good profit margin.

They get sold. Dealers discount them at the end of the year if they have not sold by then.

Never sold? Sell it at a discount? Then it would BE sold, no? They would have to do something else with it, or it would become sold, right?

They lease them, they sell them to rental car companies, they take them to Hollywood and make movies with it. Off the top of my head... I don't really know for sure. I really wonder what hapends to cars when we're not going to have oil no more.

They would rather scrap them for a tax write off then give away for a loss.

jimbobb1 is right.
If you are not picky about make, model, color, features, etc. you can buy a car well under invoice price if you time it right.
