the best duo in my opinion would have to be the twin towers hakeem olajuwon and ralph sampson....two 7 footers with unlimited athletic abilities....ralph sampson in his prime was better than garnett, duncan or robinson...kareem could not guard him...he was simply unstoppable..he could run the court faster than any big man in the game today...hakeem as we all know is the best center in the history of the nba, no one could guard him...i followed the rockets teams in the 80's have seen the two of them in all star games...if they spent more seasons together they would simply have won multiple championships...the fact remains when they played together every team was terrified to play them...a 7'4 powerforward with game and a 7 foot center who can dominate is clearly the most dynamic and best duo in nba history...

I like your list, but Jordan and Pippen HAVE to be #1.....6 champoinships! It would have been 8 and they would have been in a row if Jordan didnt go play baseball.
Magic and Jabbar should be ahead of your #4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. Maybe you are too young to remember?
I don't think "Nash and Amare" or "Thomas and Dumars" when you are talking of the top 10. Amare barely played last year and Nash had his best season ever.

Bill Russell and anybody.
Actually, Bill Russell and Sam Jones.
Jones played 12 seasons, and he and Russell won 10 rings together. Russell also won one the year before Jones joined the team.
Jones is a Hall of Famer himself, and is the greatest clutch shooter in NBA history...his only problem was, he played before ESPN dumbed everybody down.
The fact that Yao and McGrady are even listed in this question shows how today's NBA is nothing but hype. What have Yao and McGrady accomplished? They lost in the first round in 2005 and didn't even make the playoffs in 2006...yeah, great duo they have there...
What did Nash and Dirk accomplish together? What have Nash and Amare accomplished?
No need to look it up...they've accomplished nothing.
Ever hear of a couple of guys named Jerry West and Elgin Baylor? (at least one other answerer did...good job!)
Russell and Cousy.
Russell and Havlicek
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Oscar Robertson
Bird and McHale
Moses Malone and Dr. J.
Bill Walton & Maurice Lucas
Willis Reed and Walt Frazier (given earlier...good job!)
Cowens and Havlicek
Wes Unseld and Elvin Hayes
Um, people...six championships is not a record...not even close.

Shaq and Kobe averaged the most points and both are top superstars. Pippen was more of a borderline star who looked better because he played with Jordan.

Yes Olajuaon and Sampson the Twin Towers were killers. i oulw love to pick Nash and Dirk because I am a Mavs fan but seriously you cant beat two 7footers who could play like Hakeem and Sampson. Too bad thay didnt have a good team around them.

Russell and Cousy (Celtics)
Payton and Kemp (sonics)
Barkley and Johnson (Suns)
But to answer your question it probably has to be.. Stockton and Malone.. They had a lot of chemistry on the court and accomplished a lot together even though they never won a title.. but that has to be the greatest duo of all time.

What about Duncan and Robinson? They were top notch players on a great team.
But on your list I would have to say #3 Jordan & Pippen as the top of that list.
