Yeah sc_usc_fan is a retard. It sounds like a black racer but it could be a lot of things depending on where your from. There are only four types of venomous snakes in America Rattle snakes, coral snakes, Copperheads, and water moccasins or cotton mouths like some people call them. If it was a rattler you'd know. It has a rattle. Corals have alternating bands of red yellow and black. Water moccasins and copperheads look like this http://www.safelifepro.com/safelifepro/News/snakes.htm Don't try to kill it venomous or not. If you need it removed call the local animal control. They'll remove it for you.

Do you live near water ? Could be a water moccasin !! is it long and thin or is it short and fat . A black racer is thin and long , moccasins are short and fat . The head of a moccasin is diamond shaped and it's eyes have pupils like a cat , vertical slits

Thats like asking "I have a green lizard... what kind of lizard is it?" It good be a harmless gardner snake or a deadly water snake. My advise, shoot it. The only good snake a dead snake.

I agree, it appears like a ringneck snake. it could be better to have a image to verify. before everything, there are 2 species of ringneck snakes: one interior of reach to NC and one interior of reach to Florida. And there are captive bred ringneck snakes yet I dont be responsive to what Florida's regulations are approximately interior of reach species. They dont get very huge. you need to do somewhat prognosis on nutrients plan, i think they consume bugs.
