My parents were very self-reliant. Because I was so poor when I was married, when I left my husband, I learned how to do everything myself. Work on my car, did my own household repairs, put myself through college working 3 part-time jobs and raised my kids myself. I now have a very good job, own a quarter-million dollar house, and still have time in my life for my real joys: writing, research, genealogy, computers, and helping my children have successful lives also.

I had a very bad childhood. I knew from my childhood experience that I didn't want to be like those people in my family.. I constanly worked hard on myself to make sure when I turned 18 I could move out to the house and be on my own.
And thats just what I did.. I had to move in with a friend of mine and pay rent, but i worked steadily to make it through.. I got in to supervisor type positions so that I would make more money so that eventually i could retire early.. I'm very independant, self-reliant.. It begins with being strong within yourself. Dont' act out on an impulse.. Plan ahead and try to forsee any obstacles. If you forsee obstacles, then make a better plan to get around those obstacles.. Dont' let the obstacle stop you!
