Im good at english and very good at math, but my sciences are a bit shaky. I did terribly in chemistry this year and the year before I wasnt so hot in bio. Does this mean I wouldnt be a good candidate for an archaeologist?

1: Get a good trust fund to pay your way through life. You're not going to make a living at it 98% of the time. The only ones who do are those that get university positions or jobs with a national park or something, but those kinds of jobs are very competitive.

2: Study hard, but not too hard. Archaeologists are a rough sort, and being too bookwormish is bad. You have to be smart and well educated, but also you'll need to be unafraid to get your hands dirty and down a few beers while you're doing it.

3: Make a backup career choice. Something more likely to net you a job - especially if you can't do #1 (the trust fund).

4: Have fun.

The really important thing in archaeology. is an understanding of societys, ancient and modern! Not all archeology is Egyptology, and ancient Mayans!..You will have to have a good grounding in physics and chem. Im a Geologist, [wasnt so long ago, i couldnt even spell gelojigist.!..Now i are one!!] Ive done field work with archeologists, after the field work comes the really hard work for the archeo, dating processes..evidence interpretation..arguments [inevitable]..translations of texts..classification of artifacts....and thesis!.Are you sure you want to loose your sanity?,I found that most archeo's seem to be 'giggle factory' candidates!..Good luck!.

Look at where and when you attend a field school. There may be a summer semester course you can take at a local university, maybe while you're still in high school. I just finished one and it was one of the coolest classes I ever took.

Take science classes on everything related to the field - biology, zoology, history of the world, religion, chemistry, paleantology, geography.... you won't believe the mix of sciences in archeaology and what one needs to be good at it.
