I think a very experienced rider with a horse that they trusted and knew well could keep riding up until the last trimester. I think most women would want to quit in the last trimester just because of the normal discomfort of the last part of pregnancy, but everyone is different and there are probably some women who ride the whole time without any problems.

It would depend if it was a single or multiple pregnancy and which horse I would ride.

I would ride til about my 3rd-4th month no doubt and then I would only seldom ride my oldgest gelding bareback for a few more months. Stop difaintly at 7 months if he is still alive then since I don't plan to have a baby for another few years. He is 29, calm and he can care less about anything other than mares. He is ladies man strutt'n his stuff. Literly. I can get on him and he do nothing but stand of hours with guns/firecrackers and anything else happening. I feel comfortable with him.

I wouldn't want to take the chance with my other two who can out of the blue try to buck, rear or throw me risking my pregnancy.

If horseback riding is a part of your normal routine most doctors will tell you that you can continue with it but if you start having any complications as a result of it then quit.

I wouldn't ride a horse that you have a good chance of falling from, but I rode on the trail until I was about 7 mnths. it really depends on the individual and your fitness. I stopped when it started to feel uncomfortable. I would check with my doctor first though, just to make sure that my body could handle the extra pressure.

Some people are not permitted to ride due to complications though, so you should take that into consideration.

By the way....CONGRATULATIONS !! :)

I wouldn't stop at all. My friend competed an International 4* event while 6 months pregnant and went on to have a healthy baby. Be careful and don't ride any wild ones and you'll be grand!

if you are already used to horseback riding, then you can ride up until your eighth month. your doctor will tell you the same thing but I would think that after 6 months, I would stop mainly because of all the weight on my tummy.

i would go until it starts hurting you or you cant do it just make sure you have a slow very reliable horse. dont go fast or anything like that a nice slow walking trail ride wont hurt though when you get furthur along in your pregnancy. make sure people know where you will be and always have a cell phone on you or ride with someone else.

I stopped training young horses and jumping immediately, but rode my horse for the whole time. He was very dependable, and I had no problems. My doctor knew, and told me to "not be stupid" but that I could keep riding. Of course, I had no complications!

If it is an activity that you do a lot, you can do it up until you are late in your pregnancy. You can do most anything while you are pregnant that you did before. Just in the late pregnancy you may go into labor.
