I was thinking the Gibson SG even before I read this, but that's my second favorite. My favorite is a gibson doubleneck with twelve strings on top and six on the bottom neck.
I have an Ibanez bass, but my sisters blue starburst fernendez is pretty neat.

Gibson ES 335. It's the most perfect guitar. A work of art. As for bass guitar, got to be the Hofner 500/1, you know, the Beatle bass.

I have three: Gibson ES-335 (Cherry Red a la Freddie King), Gibson ES-175 (Tobacco Sunburst) and, of course, Fender Stratocaster

depends on what sound you want. For clear, crisp runs, counttry pickin' style, I'd recommend the Fender Telecaster. For a nice, fat metal sound, heavy at the bottom and powerful enough to crush your head, I vote for the Gibson SG. For light fast, bright tones I'd go with the Strat. But that's just me.

Gibson SG.
Epiphone is nice, too.
Better than Fender/Squier.
