I had to wear my cousins hand me down jeans and jackets - he's two years older than me - so my Mom would take floral fabrics and make patches and cover the collars and take out the bell-bottom and replace them with the fabrics I had chosen so that I could wear them and it look like girl clothes instead of boy hand me downs!! Sometimes she had to put knee pads in as well, everyone thought my Mom shopped at really expensive catalog stores from foreign places like New York City! That was the joy of growing up in rural Arkansas!! I loved Clogs! Still wear the same styles except now they have Dr. Scholl labels in them as I need the genuine comfort!! Charlies's Angels made me know that I could be beautiful just by a haircut and how I flipped my head!!

There was a radio station called Big Ways. Every year they had a huge concert called The Big Ways Birthday Bash. It was always held at an outdoor venue, and had major acts. I was just a kid, but I went to one. I saw The Allman Brothers, Johnny Winter, Melanie, Billy Preston and several others. The ticket for the concert was $5.00.

Being a kid, being carefree, no adult worries. I remember I had some ugly clothes, and things seemed more laid back then. (of course, I was little, so it would've been, right?)
