I believe that it is the generic for Soma. It is a good muscle relaxer and better and safer than Flexeril. Both are muscles relaxers.

However, start with small dosages like half the presribed dosage and only take it when you have to have it for pain. And, only when it helps.

It's apparently a highly addictive product and has become a street drug. I would call it more a pain killer though it's called a muscle relaxer and have used it after surgery for pain.

Do not take any of this with alcohol or you could die, literally.

No one really knows exactly how these things work and they are depressants, as is alcohol.

I used to find that Soma was the only thing that helped really bad pain. Now I do better with stretches and staying off computer. Soma had quit helping, anyway.

You might want to try aspirin first as long as you aren't allergic. It's an effective old product which comes from oak trees. Also avoid alcohol with aspirin (as it can cause bleeding in your stomach) and take it with food.

actually no it is generic for soma...."Carisoprodol is a muscle relaxant. It works by blocking nerve impulses (or pain sensations) that are sent to your brain.

Carisoprodol is used, along with rest and physical therapy, to treat injuries and other painful muscular conditions."
