Ok, thanks for the Oceania bit, but on the other islands I was looking for a strictly geographical answer, not political. I mean, Malta and Ireland are part of Europe, Barbados and Cuba part of America, Borneo part of Asia, so, what about this remote Islands in the South Atlantic and Indian Ocean???

And those in the South Indian Ocean??? Is there any geographical rule to decide to which continent does an island belong to, like proximity? If so, Hawaii should be part of Oceania, shouldnt it?

Island is an island in the South Atlantic Ocean, around 1,000 miles (1,600 km) from the coast of Africa. It is a dependency of the British overseas territory of Saint Helena, which is 800 miles (1,287 km) to the south east. The Island is named after the day of its recorded discovery, Ascension Day.

The Kerguelen Islands or the Kerguelen Archipelago (French: Îles Kerguelen or Archipel de Kerguelen or officially Archipel des Kerguelen or officially Archipel Kerguelen) is a group of islands in the southern Indian Ocean. The Kerguelen Islands are located at 49°15′S 69°35′E. The main island, Grande Terre, originally called Desolation Island, is 6,675 km2 and it is surrounded by another 300 smaller islands and islets, forming an archipelago of 7,215 km². The climate is cold and very windy and the seas are usually rough.
The islands are one of four districts of the French Southern and Antarctic Lands, and were discovered by Yves-Joseph de Kerguelen-Trémarec in February 1772. The archipelago was exploited for its seal population until their destruction, fur seals in the 18th century and elephant seals in the early 20th century. A number of expeditions have briefly visited the islands, including that of James Cook in 1776.

Oceania is a geographical, often geopolitical, region consisting of numerous lands—mostly islands but sometimes including Australia—in the Pacific Ocean and vicinity. The exact scope of Oceania is defined variously, with interpretations including Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, East Timor, and those parts of Indonesia east of the Wallace Line.

Easter Island, known in the native language as Rapa Nui ("Big Rapa") or Isla de Pascua in Spanish, is an island in the south Pacific Ocean belonging to Chile. Located 3,600 km (2,237 statute miles) west of continental Chile and 2,075 km (1,290 statute miles) east of Pitcairn Island, it is one of the most isolated inhabited islands in the world. It is located at 27°09′S 109°27′W, with a latitude close to that of the Chilean city of Copiapó, north of Santiago. The island is approximately triangular in shape, with an area of 163.6 km² (63 sq. miles), and a population of 3,791 (2002 census), 3,304 of which live in the capital of Hanga Roa. Easter is made up of three volcanoes: Poike, Rano Kau and Terevaka. The island is famous for its numerous moai, the stone statues now located along the coastlines. Administratively, it is a province (containing a single municipality) of the Chilean Valparaíso Region.

Any answer to a question like this is arbitrary, like what's the world's largest island; Greenland or Australia. But Ascension is closer to Africa than to any other continent, and Kerguelen is closest to Antarctica. Similarly with Oceania. I'd include Easter Is. in Oceania even though it is owned by a South American country. And Europe is only considered a separate continent from Asia because it's a whole lot of small countries. The boundary, the Urals, are hills only about 3000 feet high, and the Bosphorus. And before the Suez and Panama canals were built, Africa was part of Asia and North and South America were a single continent. And during the last ice age, when there was a Bering land bridge, Asia and the Americas were one continent.

The Ascension island is the colony in Britain and is the volcanic island which is on the southern Atlantic Ocean located in 1131km northwest of St.Helena Island and located in 1700 miles from Brazil and 1300 miles from Angola. The Ascension island is the 88 square kilo of area, population 1103 people (March, 1999) and administratively belongs to St.Helena. The U.S. Forces used it as a guided missile tracking station, and English air force also established the garrison newly in 1984. The Falkland Islands etc. is an important relay ground to the direction of the southern Atlantic Ocean, and is the sources of an income where sightseeing is main.
Kerguelen is a group of islands in the Indian Ocean. Together with a few neighbouring island groups it belongs to France and is administered directly by the French government as part of their Southern and Antarctic Territories (Terres Australe et Antartique Français - TAAF).
The primary use of the term Oceania is to describe a macrogeographical region that lies between Asia and the Americas, with the Australian continent as the major landmass and consisting of some 10,000 islands in the Pacific. The name Oceania is used because, unlike the other regional groupings, it is the ocean and adjacent seas rather than a continent that link the lands together.

Originally coined by the French explorer Dumont d'Urville in 1831, Oceania has been traditionally divided into Micronesia, Melanesia, Polynesia, and Australasia. As with any region, however, interpretations vary; increasingly, geographers and scientists divide Oceania into Near Oceania and Remote Oceania.

Most of Oceania consists of small island nations. Australia is the only continental country; by some definitions, Indonesia has land borders with East Timor and Papua New Guinea.

Easter Island is a Polynesian island in the eastern Pacific Ocean, part of the territory of Chile, and is correctly included in Oceania
