Why are Muslim women treated as second class citizens in the Arab world?

In the mosque a friend Muslim lady is not allowed with the men in fromt...women all stay in the back and cannot address the congregation directly. What's with that Mr. pres chimp?

What most politically correct people are reluctant to admit is that misogyny is part of the theology of Islam. Secondly, much of the barbarism that you see in those countries are traditions that carried over from a pre-Islamic era. Finally, and this is true with most forms of oppression around the world, the people who benefit from the servitude of others will do everything in their power to sustain a system that ensures that servitude. That system can only be broken when outside liberal influence encroaches upon that society. Unfortunately, Muslim dominated countries are masters of barricading their societies from foreign ideas.

WEll, I've met a lot of those "second class" women after they come to the USA and CAnada and they don't seem to be a lot different from women in the USA..apart from their cultural way of dressing..yes folks here in the USA women are as bad off as ever..we are STILL paid far less than men and STILL not getting the top jobs...no woman president yet but there have been some in Asia! Wise up...stepford wife image is alive and well in the USA!

In short they are not treated as second class citizens.
In both the Jewish and Muslim faiths, women are separate from men, this is to avoid distractions during prayer.
If you are looking at the Muslim manner of treating women, I rather imagine you are looking through western eyes.
Women are honored and respected in Islam.

There is no good reason for this. I spent five years in Saudi Arabia, and read the Qur'an from cover to cover in two separate versions, and it still makes no sense. The nominal reason is to protect the innocence of the women, but that hardly holds up to intelligent scrutiny.
