NOLO is a great, free informational site. Also, be sure to read what the USPTO (United States Patent & Trademark Office) has to say about patents.
Associations may be a good avenue to explore. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.
Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

* Patents and How to Get One : A Practical Handbook by U.S. Department of Commerce
* How To Make Patent Drawings Yourself: A Patent It Yourself Companion by Jack Lo

Usually there's an agency in charge of patenting and copywriting certain products or goods. Check with your local government directory and find out where the patenting agency is. Ask the local dept of trade and industry for help, they would know since they are in charge of patenting business names.

go to patent office. maybe you should visit WIPO website. it cost around a least 6000 dollar depend on the complexity of the patent.

As a neighbor explained to me,
First you need to get an "Agent" of sorts. There is a flat fee for sending them the paper work for it.
Secondly they test the marketing and such and that costs more money,
Then it just goes up from there.. if it's good they take it ont he road..if it's even better they build a prototype which costs more money etc etc..
It was looking like my neighbor was goi tohave to cough up atleast 7 k in the end.
