As soon as possible, contact Planned Parenthood or your county health department for local affordable/free medical services. Lot's of home suggestions here, but delaying could mess up your sister permanently. No one in cyberspace can say with certainty what the problem is. That's not worth the risk, especially when real medical services are available.

BTW, cranberry juice which is recommended in one of the answers is thought to help prevent, not cure urinary tract infections. If that's what your sister has, then it's too late for the juice to do much good.

PS -- call and talk to Planned Parenthood. If you're worried about involving an adult, they should still be able to help you out.

There are two things it could be that will not require a doctor to treat because it is over the counter medication. It could be a yeast infection in which you should go to the drug store and get monistat 7 cream and follow the directions. It could also be a urinary tract infection. You can go to the drug store and get AZO which is concentrated cranberry and also get cranberry juice and this will help or even take care of it if she hasn't had the symptoms long. If she has had the symptoms long then if the cranberry juice and AZO pills do not help the symptoms she should go to the doctor after a week of trying the AZO.

It could also be BV which is anotehr vaginal infection that the medicine is only perscription and she will have to see a doctor.

It could also be symptom of a STD that is if she has been sexually active. I know she is only 14 but it is possible she has been. If she has been and this is a possibility then she has to go to the doctor ASAP.

More than likely it is a urinary tract infection and if the symptoms have just started (a week or less) then try the AZO and cranberry juice. If it has been longer then you have to take her to the doctor because a urinary tract infection could lead to pelvic enflamitory disease if left untreated and she could end up damaging her uterus.

It sounds like a bladder infection. Also what they call a urinary tract infection. You really need to see a doctor and get a prescription pill for it. But sometimes if you drink cranberry juice it will help relieve the pressure and pain. And drink lots of water. But I have found over the years you need an antibiotic to clear it up the right way. Sorry. Can't you go to a free clinic where you live?

Restrict her sugar intake, as she may have diabetes, or a UTI.
If she has a UTI, you need to get her some antibiotics.
Take her to a free clinic if you can not afford a doctor.
Some antibiotics are only 10-15 dollars for the whole treatment.
Go in though... Things can become septic.. and then you'll be admitting her to a hospital for even more money.

Sounds like she may have a urinary tract infection. Is there a free clinic anywhere nearby? If so she needs to get there. With the symptoms you're describing, I think the infection is past the home remedy stage.

Sounds like a urinary infection, although it could be vaginitis. Either can progress and cause infertility if not treated; to say nothing of being very painful. Hie thee to a physician!

PS - If your sister is fooling around already this could be an STD like gonorrhea or Chlamydia.

Go to your local Family Planning Center/Planned Parenthood. They will provide free healthcare.

It sounds as if she has an infection and needs antibiotics. Have her drink LOTS of fluids because it helps rid the body of the toxins.
