I went out on a friends hen night recently (that’s a bachelorette party for anyone outside of the UK) and after many hours of drinking, dancing and stumbling around town failing to find a taxi, the evening finally ended with a group of us squatting down in an alleyway for a much needed pee! I mentioned this in passing to some colleagues at work when we were discussing our respective weekends, expecting them to find it a humorous incident, but instead they reacted with disgust at my ‘unladylike conduct.’ The colleagues in question were male. Since their attitude is pretty clear, I would like to know what other women think of what I did and, if they have ever done the same thing after a night on the tiles, how people responded to their behaviour?

You know what? You don't need anyone else's approval.

It isn't exactly the epitome of charming to pee in an alleyway but so what? Its still a funny story, ( I mean the whole group of you? LOL) but maybe only bachelorettes can understand. You are unpretentious enough to follow the call of nature when it is urgent enough. It could have been better, it could have been worse. It is really not worth worrying about. If you ever need to have an emergency squat again, maybe just keep it to yourself since it offends the prissy boys at work.

A good rule of thumb: What happens at the bachelorette party stays at the bachelorette party.

Why on Earth would you tell your co-workers about this? It's the workplace and it's a bad idea. You do want to get ahead in this company, right? Any little thing will be held against or for you when it's time for you to be even considered for a promotion. I think this was the action you should regret, not the public urination.

As for the #1 in the streets, I'm kinda mixed on this one. On one hand, where do authorities expect us to urinate if everything is closed and there aren't any of those portable toilet things you see at street festivals or construction sites? If you have to go, you have to go! I always thought it was odd that dogs are allowed to pee wherever they are in the streets (although feces must be cleaned up, by law) yet human beings, HUMAN BEINGS, aren't allowed to do so unless they risk being caught and getting a ticket (or worse). I say to cities: put up more portable toilet thingies and we won't have to give streets a golden shower at 3:46 in the morning while intoxicated!

However, I feel bad for home and business owners who have to wake up in the morning to discover the horrible stench of someone's urine on their doorstep or wall.

So, next time this happens to you, try making everyone happy: find the nearest bathroom in a 24-7 diner or gas station; if you can't find a toilet and you have to go badly, at least do it on property like the city park or a river instead of on some poor girl's bicycle that's chained up to the gate in front of her lawn.

No, you are not the first nor the last, it actually happened to me, I was in a night out on the town with my friends, guys and gals, and I couldn't hold it anymore, so I went in a dark alley and had my friends cover me up, they were teasing afterwards because they said they never saw a lady behaving like that, but they were laughing with me, I think your colleagues are kinda square...lol

Well you are dealing with a double standard. How many guys would think nothing of peeing wherever they needed to.

I've been lots of places where squatting is the only option. I wouldn't recommend habitually peeing in alleys, but it doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me. Besides, you were drunk, and when people are drunk they act like idiots. whatever!

did u get any on your shoes? the men ave probably been there too but they have an easier time of it and dont like to think about women doing such things. some things are better left unsaid except at the next hen party.

I'd probably feel worse about being drunken in the first place. Intoxication does nothing to give a ladylike reputation. Much easier to control one's actions when sober, no?

Anyway, hope you get things worked out with your colleagues. It's really none of their (or my) business anyway. :)

only if you got caught. Of course I'm a Kentucky hillbilly and it's acceptable here but I was born in France so I see your problem. I probably would not have mentioned it beyond the girls who took a pee with me but here it would have just got a good laugh:-)

No, I've never done that. However, if i did, I would never share it with anyone, male or female, at work. You should not feel bad about it though. It's over and done with now.
