I was about to say "because you're wise", but then I read that you don't follow your own advice, which makes you not so wise. Lead by example rather than tell people what to do, then they'll actually respect what you have to say.

Its possibly because you have gone through enough of life experiences to know the 'Do's and Don'ts' about life and such.

if you don't lead by example, then how can you say you are good at giving advice...... and how do you know you are good at giving advice..... as you don't follow it yourself
