Unfortunately sweetheart, you'll have to prove to him a different kind of relationship, one where he has no doubt in his mind that you're the one for him. You may have to do whatever it takes if he's "all that" for you.

You can't and more importantly SHOULDN'T. Why would you want to marry someone you had to "convince" to marry you. Bad marriage or not if he wanted to get married to you he would. He's using that as an excuse. Take it from someone who was in a similar situation. We lived together for 4 yrs. He had had a bad previous marriage and said he didn't want to get married. I told him time after time that that I wanted marriage or he had to leave... we married. And he CHANGED. He was moody. He lied and cheated on me throughout the relationship and eventually became verbally abusive. We divorced 4yrs ago.Take my advice and rethink your priorities here. Bad previous relationships don't stop a person from falling in love or getting married again. It really sounds like he's just happy with the way things are and won't change. What you need to contemplate is how long you can continue to live that way and be happy. Change YOUR OPTIONS not him. You'll be happier in the long run.

Try and impress him and do whatever that will persuade him, that he would 'love' being with you. Just look at everything in a positive way, try not to get him mad or frustrated.

Tell him, things probably weren't going as good as they are going now(hopefully thats a fact). If you believe that you really are in love with him, then there is no real reason why you would divorce him.

Just try to convince him that you wouldnt divorce him at all. Of course do say that exactly, but a way to really say it, is say "I Love You" of course really meaning it. Also call him whenever you can, always say your really happy while your with him. Make him feel 'needed' in your life.

Yeah well, i never wanted to get married, well im not married yet. I just thought getting married would bring me down, but i am deeply in love, and we both are very sure we are going to get married someday.

Hope everything works out for you. Best wishes!

-Edward

I don't know honey. I'm pretty much against marriage anymore. Why do you WANT to get married so badly?? Don't you know that more than 50% of all marriages end in divorce. Just live with him. Then if you break up you can go your separate ways and be done with it...no legal junk...no messy divorce...no fighting over stuff.

He believes in it if he tried it once. He is just concerned about getting hurt again.

Explain that not all marriages end in divorce. He can learn from his mistake the first time and make your marriage the best it can be.

Just realize that if he doesn't come around quickly then you may never get married. Can you live with that?

Promise him at any cost that he will never even hear the word DIVORCE after marrying you !... This is only if divorce is his problem for considering marriage or so.

But if he has a problem with the women .! then i dont think not only you -no one stands a chance ! In that case... better move on!

i think the only thing that will change his mind will be time. since you already live with him, thats one strike against you. he's aleady got everything involved in a marriage without the piece of paper, so there really is no incentive for him to get married again. This is something you guys should have discussed before moving in together.

You can't. Give him time and space enough to think about it again. The more you push for it the more he will resist. You may have to wait years and you may never get married, but that is a choice you will have to make.

You might also suggest if the topic of marriage does come up, a prenuptual agreement.

For the love of God do not marry someone that doesn't want to get married in the first place, give him space and don't rush it!
