Grin. Sounds like you need a bit of brain candy.
Lynsay Sands is a wonderful writer. My favorite book she has written is fairly new and is called "A Quick Bite" It is about a female vampire who is afraid of blood....I can't give away the plot but you will not be able to put it down. Kelly Armstrong writes good supernatural stories as well,.
Anything by Barbara Metzger, Amanda Quick, Julia Quinn, Catherine Coulter, Sandra Hill, Janet Chapman, and Johanna Lindsey will fix you up. I have never read a bad book written by this group, and they are highly rereadable.
Janet Chapman has a series of Time Travel books which will make you want every one of them. Lynn Kurland too.
I just read a book called "Angel with an Attitude" by Michelle Rowen which I did not want to end.
Good reading :)
Edit-This was the last answer I wrote last night. This morning I got out of bed, and added the websites of these very special authors
Edit, the second-And how could I forget P.C Cast???? Her books too are among my favorites.
Edit, the third-Ashley, thank you so much for the tips about Marianne Curley and Meg Cabot. Because of you, I am making a trip the bookstore today :)

Hey check out "The great escape" by Paul Brickhill, it's nonfiction but very funny, exciting and really awesome!!!! I saw the movie and I liked it alot so I had to read the real story, it is better!! Something really cool about true stories is that it is so amazing, I mean it REALLY happened. If it is fictional, it is just all made up. I mean the writer just made it up, what's cool about that? Sure I read some fiction but I don't enjoy it nearly as much as the true stories, and they are usually alot more adventureous!!! Try it and you'll see!! Oh, and another book about ww2's great escape is "The Longest Tunnel" by Alan Burgess, it is probably even better than Brickhills book, it goes into more detail...check it out it's awesome!!
Hey some really cool books with awesome stories are the dog stories by Albert Payson Terhune. It's more than just a silly dog story too, it is really cool and fun reading. Check it out!!
of course if you want some REALLY good reading try the Bible!! Now that tops everything!!
Have FUN!!!

anything by Marianne Curley - start with Old Magic. if you like that, then read the guardians of time trilogy (the named, the dark, the key) she presents some interresting ideas about time travel in all of her books (those are the only four). she incorporates love into the action so this is good if you dont want your typical love story.
if you are looking for something funnier, try the mediator series by meg cabot. (Shadowland, ninth key, reunion, darkest hour, haunted, twilight) they are quick reads, funny, and they dont really get boring. they also get better with each new book as she develops the main characters. these books incorporate teenage life with some ************ and a major hot ghost.
happy reading!

I agree with another answer on here. Katie Macalister is hilarious. She writes under another pen name, Katie Maxwell, that are teen books which are just as funny, just not as adult. Obviously.
Sherrilyn Kenyon is funny. Again she's supernatural and romance, but lots of fun.
Garth Nix, anything Bruce Coville especially the Monsters of Morely Manor.
Meg Cabot. I know she's a "popular" author, but she's great. I really like her non-princess stuff.
I also like Lauren Willig. Historical fiction but nothing even remotely boring. I promise you.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Ok well even though this could be a "kiddie" book I have read it and it has a lot of humor. It's called "Kids Night In". Kids Night In is written by many authors. I'd also try the Darwin Awards.

Cocktails With God by David Treimert
ISBN: 0-9727446-1-4

Daring, hilarious, though-provoking -- A wild ride.
This is not a christian or any other affiliated writing. It is purely entertainment. It also has recipes for some really awesome drinks with names like 'Crucifixion', 'Shouting Evangelist', 'Jehovah's Witness', and 'Bible Thumper'. So stock up the bar, have some friends over and have a great time.

Anything by Carl Hiaissen (Haiassen?). He writes ecological mysteries, but the villains are hilarious.
Calvin Trillin is supposed to be funny also.
Old Kurt Vonnegut books are humorous as well.

How about heart pounding non stop adventure...mixed with history, world culture, and myth? My favorite author is James Rollins. I couldn't put any of his books down from the first page until I read the whole thing. Worth a try.
