I wore an "interview suit" to work because I had an interview after work. Of course my coworkers were suspicious. Luckily my boss was out of town, but one of the coworkers called my boss and told her I was "all dressed up". Isn't that strange?

When you go to the office 'over-dressed' for an interview, you can mention casually that you are going to dinner with your girlfriend/boyfriend's boss, or have to attend a funeral.

It might be best if you could schedule interviews on a morning or afternoon off from work so that you can change at home, and no one in the office will be the wiser.

No, it's not strange. People are nosy. Have you not noticed all the questions about who is dating, who is gay, who is cheating...? Some people seemingly live to be in other people's business. If you don't want them to know, schedule your interviews so you don't have to dress differently for work or on your off days. You will probably have to come up with some cover story for the current situation though. Be prepared with something that sounds plausible because if you pause too long in answering, they will probably start spreading around that you are leaving.

I will tell you it is not your co-workers business what you do.If you feel like you want to better yourself, all means go out and look for another job.My last job I told co-workers I got an administration position at my towns hospital and immediately they was asking the "WHAT IF" questions..The kind that makes you feel guilty about leaving. If your manager asked why you was dressed up kindly explain "I was exploring my options elsewhere" but do not give the name of the business, how much you make or what position they are hiring.Managers can give you much grievance or yet can sabotage your chance into not getting a position you had applied for but it is UP TO YOU to decide to make the career change.
Best of luck with your process

Wear your interview suit under your clothes, then at the end of the day spin around really fast like Wonder Woman until your work clothes fly off. If a co-worker sees you, threaten to tie them up with your invisible rope if they don't keep quiet.

They don't have to be all up in your business. If they ask, just tell them you have to go to a funeral after work, then get quiet and stare off into space....they'll leave you alone! :) Good luck on your job hunt.
