I want to hear about success with these induction techniques...stripping membranes and rupturing membranes. And whether they worked to induce labor or whether further measures had to be taken (like pitocin). I've experienced both prostaglandin medication and pitocin to actually make me go into labor. And I had my membranes ruptured 4 days ago. I'm just exploring my options and seeing if I should ask to have my membranes ruptured before going on pitocin. Or if I have any hope of going on my own because of ruptured membranes. By the way, I am overdue by 2 days and will be induced in less than a week.

I had my membranes ruptured manually but needed pitocin because of the epideral (slows labor progress). The baby did not "come down" and I spent 2 quiet hours pushing him down by myself. You should probably be induced w/ pitocin if this is your circumstance. Good luck.

Well, they won't rupture your membranes unless you're already at the hospital, becasue it's necesarry to deliver within 24 hours of this happening because of the risk of infection.

I'm guessing you mean that they stripped your membranes 4 days ago. They did that to me twice, and it never helped anything. I was 1 cm dialated for about a month, made it up to 70% effaced after the second stripping, and never dropped.

Finally, when I was 10 days overdue, they were going to induce me with pitocin, but they then discovered that my little man was all kinds of backwards (face up, breech, and arms and feet were both over his head, with a low amount of fluid), so I had a c-section instead.

It all depends on how effaced and dilated you are and also the position of the baby.

If the baby is still high and they rupture your membranes this can cause a Cord prolase (which is highly dangerous, cause for immediate emergency c-section) so what they usually do is allow the pitocin (oxytocin) help bring the head lower first.

Unfortunately the doctor will have to help you make that call once he has assessed you.

a million.) A delivery plan is customarily a design of the way you propose for the delivery of your child to head..if you happen to plan to have a average (vaginal) delievery, without a treatment, then that's your delivery plan... if you do not care how the child will get out of you, lengthy because it will get out, then you don't have any delivery plan.. two.) They commonly won't do a c-segment on any one except it's wanted... They attempt to have folks do vaginal delieverys lengthy as there aren't any issues that would damage you or the child- additionally a c-segment takes a whilst longer to heal than a average delivery. three.) I discovered that whilst in hard work if you happen to (take a look at) to calm down within the jacuzzi they've within the room, the water has a tendency to relieve your ache.different then that i am definite treatment could support to (i didnt have any treatment so i do not know the way that each one works) four.) Nope, if you happen to give too rapid and omit the time period alloted for an epidural, probably the most they are able to deliver you is a treatment referred to as stadol (sp?)... what this does is it makes you go to sleep or leisure among your contractions to arrange you and leisure you up up to you'll be for the pushing level.. nonetheless, if you happen to emerge as desiring an episiotomy- you are going to be nummbed down there so you don't believe it....if you get beyond the contractions even though, pushing can be a work a cake.. actually i dont consider the pushing aspect hurts in any respect.. it is typically the contractions that kill! five.)- i am definite naturalists could say "permit it come on it is possess"... however after a distinctive time period it may possibly get too detrimental for a child to stick within the womb, which if so i belive it would be a lot more more secure to urge the hard work, and get the ball rolling, i am definite if it wasn't nontoxic, medical professionals could do it.. well success, you appear beautiful apprehensive, that's natural in first time mommys, however i swear for as horrifying because it all sounds, as your going via hard work, it is going to appear like a breeze to you.. and it is going to be over very quickly well success*

I can't really help you. I had my water break on it's own (x2) and I was not in labor with them. The first time they gave me pitocin and it didn't work and I had to have an emergency c-section. The 2nd time, they just gave me the emergency c-section (the baby was side to side, not head down). You should really talk to your doctor and find out what he/she advises. Each doctor has their own preferred method that works with varying degrees of success.

when your bag of waters is ruptured delivery should be within 24hrs...otherwise infection can set.

i had pitocin during my labor with my first..just to get things moving...which is a normal routine suring labor and delivery.
