Seeing as more than 50% of the population is overweight, I've been wondering: will this become the new ideal for beauty and body type? Or will thin always be in? What do you think?

Well as a trainer I'd like to see things come into a balance a little bit. Things are so off!
I have ladies coming into my office that are so overweight, it will take them along time to get it off. I have young girls coming in that have their hip bones showing wanting to lose weight. Help!
Food is totally out of control, they are offered in huge portions and cheaper this way. What a mess! So I hope things come into balance some. I'm tired of seeing all skinny people in every single magazine, most of these girls working out with 3 lb. weights, come on get real!

Unfortuantly it is cheaper to be fat than it is to be thin. So since I don't expect poor to be the next rich, I can't imagine that will ever happen. Think about it, salmon or 4 for $1 mac and cheese... poor people have to eat more fattening foods... it's just the facts. Best wishes

how is slowly killing yourself by making yourself overweight by eating too much mcdonalds be called the new "in" thing to do? yeah, being super thin isn't that great either...like if you become anorexic. but i think that the right weight for someone should be somewhere in their recomemded bmi(body mass index) this compares your height, weight, and age to how much you should weigh, and tells you if you are over or underweight.

The overweight people can not make a determination on this because they are going to die at a younger age if they don't do something about it, for the rest of us, Thin in still in......

If you look at beauty standards over recent history, we've gone from voluptuous beauties like Marylin Monroe to sticks like Kate Moss. I haven't seen any tendency to reverse this.

I don't think overly fat will be attractive (which kinda sucks cuz we can't eat!) but I really think that people are beginning to realize that girls don't look good when they are emanciated and totally shapeless because they are so skinny!

Fat is ugly and skinny is worse.

You must stay in balance. Eat lots and exercise more.
