It is best to get yourself a private teacher, but you can type Free Guitar Lessons into your search and there are many many of them online that are free and will teach you the basics, only a personal teacher is better because they can correct you when you are doing something wrong. I know of a place you can try. Go to www.hsn.com (home shopping network) and look up Esteban. He offers guitar lessons on CD, and a guitar that comes with all the things you need to get started for only about 180 dollars. It looks like great stuff too. They have a cheaper setup then that too, but it doesn't come with an amplifier with overdrive.

I gave guitar lessons myself years ago, and I also played in bands too. I taught myself by listening to guitarists, watching guitarists, slowing down their recordings and trying and by trial and error I taught myself to even play fingerstyle guitar like Chet Atkins, cgp., Tommy Emmanuel, cgp. and Doyle Dykes They all have websites and they also have myspaces. Doyles is www.myspace.com/doyledykes Tommy's is www.myspace.com/tommyemmanuel1 and they have regular sites too at www.doyledykes.com and www.tommyemmanuel.com You can learn much from listening to them. They are virtuosos of the guitar.

My husband gives private lessons - not that that will help you.

Try the local music shops the ones around here all give lessons.
