Introverted attention deficit disorder

Sometimes, I get bored easily. Especially when people speak mindlessly or drone on and on. And instead of being hyperactive, I look within for entertainment. I think about old jokes. I ask myself "what if" questions. I plan things out. I think about where I'd rather be. Anything to keep me entertained. I'm trying to write a novel and capitalize on this trait of mine. Do I have IADD or am I just a run of the mill daydreamer?

Seems your question about your reclusive behaviour and this one are related. I don't think you realize that.

Intellectual people are generally bored during trivial conversation. They will involve themselves with other interests while waiting to get to the end of the conversation. This is why we seek a reclusive life. We tend to see things that others don't. We are usually get finished with the conversation before the other person has started. Mainly because we already have the conversation with the person before the conversation gets started. The over active mind can be socially frustrating, but it can also be effective in resolving so many fascinating issues. The best solution is to surround yourself with like minded people. Even now I am watching a movie while I am writing this out. Thank God for spell checkers because I am likely to misspell many words as I am intently watching the TV. This movie sucks... It's time to change the channel... :) And that quickly, you are off to something else.

You are a daydreamer. Plain and simple... I do not believe in labeling. All DSM's should be burned and pis-sed on. If there was a disorder of this nature and name, what would you do about it? Get on some sort of prescription medication to give aimlessly to rich billionaire drug companies so that they can give you something that is going to make you STOP this wonderful daydreaming?

The traits you have are very nice to have. I would be proud of them. You are insightful. Please don't try to drown out your natural abilities by numbing yourself with blanket statements/labeling/anti-depressants/other prescription medications. ...

Keep dreaming...

Please...

:)
