by telling you why you need to be saved, and also HOW to be saved (forgiven).
The message is simple. All men are cursed and headed for Eternal torment in Hell as they are born (because all have sinned (disobeyed God (we inherited the sinful nature from Adam, who chose to disobey God, so that none of us is right with God, we all have done things against His laws, (broken His commands)).
As we are born, we are headed for Hell. And the only ones who will ever escape that certain punishment for sinning against God are those who embrace Jesus' Gospel message of repentance and forgiveness while they are on this earth, and who follow and obey it from there on out (for the rest of their lives).
Salvation is free, it's a gift from God. You can't work to earn it, but you do have to accept it (if I put a watch on the table (giving it to you) and said, "here, I want you to have my watch".. you don't have it til you take it. I have given it to you, but you still have to pick it up.
Likewise, we have to receive God's gift (accept and embrace it) for it to have effect.
without that gift of salvation (forgiveness and being saved from eternal suffering and separation from God), we will end up in Hell with all those others who refused His message and gift . . (including "good" people (like neighbors of ours who seem to us to be wonderful people), and "bad" people, like Manson and Hitler and people like that (that's assuming that Manson and Hitler didn't and don't repent and become believers, (for Hitler it's too late, but not for Manson). . etc. .

I dont know that you need to be led to God; I believe God is in all of us. Salvation, on earth you only need salvation if you are in pain and/or unhappy, I mean you wouldn’t want to be saved from happiness or peace would you, in terms of the afterlife (if you believe it exists) your salvation probably (could be a pretty big probably) depends on how we live our life. for me, I believe that we all intuitively know right from wrong.
The Bible, Koran, and Torah are great books of history and knowledge that are guides for living a life of peace, unfortunately we as complicated beings tend to overanalyze and distill some really simple guidance and more often than not we spend more time judging and enforcing other folks than living the good life that we read about and talk about achieving. For me there is a big difference between living a peaceful good life and agreeing with the principle of living a peaceful good life, bottom line, I am happy and serene when I show love to myself and those around me. Talk is ……..
have a good day,
Mike

Assuming there is a God?
It's more of a history book, really. It's meant to make you believe in all the wonderous things that God has done for His children. In my opinion, I just couldn't live a life in fear of a vengeful God. That's one reason I don't believe in the Christian God.

The bible teach's that the law came to us from God through Moses. The law was to show man that he could not live up to the law and that the wages of sin is death. God in his mercy came to the world in the flesh Jesus Christ to overcome sin and to die as atonement for all who accept him.
