Swinging too early, swinging too late, missing the ball by just an fraction of an inch.

Ted Williams has said that hitting a baseball has to be the toughest thing in sports. Who am I to argue with the man who has done it better than anyone else?

well you see kind sir when the pitcher pitches the ball the batter usually makes an attempt to hit it over the fence. but only if its a strike. sometimes if the batter doesnt get a good swing on the ball or its a good pitch and the ball is deflected into foul territory. foul territory is on the opposite side of the foul lines on each side of the field.

Usually a ball goes foul when the hitter swings late or when the pitch is too far inside or outside but they still make contact.

it all depends on- when a hitter swings to late or to early... the place where the ball hits the bat, when a pitcher pitches a breaking pitch and the angle that the bat is swung
