70s child... hippie i guess...

they mean quit being a hippie; i.e. an optimist. It means to look at things realistically and act mature, like a "real" person.

"stop being such a flower child" means lose the optimism and become a bitter realist without hope.

Back in the 60's the hippies used to go around toting flowers and singing songs of peace and all that. They used to be called "flower child"

A 'flower child' is a reference to the hippies of the 60's and 70's. These were free thinking people, often into mind expanding drugs, a free society filled with those who love each other, and sometimes pleasantly naieve (sp?).

A great group of people in my opinion.

Hope this helps.

LOL back in the good old days when smoking pot was accepted people walked around stoned and in a daze.. some almost appeared to be 'burnt out' and well, maybe they were.. anyway we called the fried ones flower children cause they floated around all happy and smelling the flowers along the way... lol

It's a reference to the sixties. They used to call it flower power. Back before green became the right thing to do. They also referred to those who thought like that hippies.
Tell me, are you always into peace, love and good will? Cause that's most likely why they say it.

in the late 60's and 70's they called the "hippies" Flower Children. Now a days if you get called that you're probably a very light and flighty person, you know....like a hippie :P

The hippies of the sixties were referred to as flower children because we used to frolic in the grass and blow bubbles with flowers in out hair. We also hated Nixon's dirty little war in Vietnam that was killing our brothers and friends. The referrence could be to your political views or liberal ideals.

Do I look like a flower child? I see nothing wrong with that. It just means your beautiful in a mysterious way.
