First of all, the people that are saying that the poor are doing nothing to prevent being poor are so incredibly ignorant and obviously have no idea what they're talking about. The rich are getting richer, thanks to the Tax Cuts[Thank you Bush! (except not)] The taxes for the middle class are still the same, if not rising, so they will become poorer as well as the poor becoming poorer. This country treats the rich better than the poor and the poor have no way of getting richer because of this.

Everyone gets richer. Poor? What is poor? Go to some third world countries, you will see poor. the poor in this country drive cars. They have cell phones, televisions in their homes, and they are suffering from an OBESITY EPIDEMIC!! Pluck a Cambodian out of his straw hut and drop him into any inner city and he'd be ELATED to be a POOR American.

And to the guy that answered that when someone gets richer, someone else suffers, NONSENSE! That is the zero-sum economics theory that every good liberal is taught and it's nonsense! Something is worth what it's worth. If you have a $100,000 Mazerati, and you wrap it around a tree, totaling it, it's now worth $5,000 in spare parts. Who got richer at your expense? NO ONE! Like wise Bill Gates has only the money that's in his pocket, his stocks, investments are only worth what the market is willing to give him, it's value could go down at any given moment for a variety of reasons. The point: if you come up with a product or service for which people are willing to pay, no one is suffering because of it, quite the opposite. The guy that invented the microwave oven for example, became a very wealthy man, and now there is one in every houshold, including the poor ones.

Some of the reasons WHY the rich get richer are they invest their money. So it is allowed to gain interest.

The poor cannot SAVE any money allowing it to grow. The poor do not get cost of living increases or pay increases like the rich do.

Not always. Sometimes, the rich get poorer and the poor get richer.
Though, it is often said, it takes money to make money....

In the US at least, the 'poorest of the poor' usually have color TVs and their greatest health threat is obesity. So if anything everyone's getting richer but those at the high end are getting richer faster; it's sort of an economic Doppler effect.

It depends on who you listen to. The reality is, there is a status quo. Rich often stay rich, and many poor stay poor.

Read the book "Rich Dad, Poor Dad."
