In general, patrol. And the most dangerous would be routine calls and traffic stops.
For example, the reason for a vehicle stop is no indication of the potential danger involved -- you could stop a vehicle for running a red light only to find out later that the violator ran the red light because he just robbed a bank.
Ironically, the safest incidents are those where the ofcr(s) go in, prepared for the worst. A SWAT ofcr is safer than an ofcr pulling over an unknown vehicle for a broken tail-light.

Speaking from experience as a former road patrol deputy, now a swat trained narcotics/undercover officer, I would say that being on routine patrol is the most dangerous. Primarily becuase you never know who you may run into. Traffic stops are 99% routine, but there is always that chance of stopping someone for a minor traffic violation and he just killed his wife, or has a bunch of dope and a gun in the car. Most traffic stops are done by single officers with no backup. Hope this helps.
