Well let me start by saying, Toyotas are about the best cars on earth. Every car company is going to have trouble sometime. Without having the car in front of me and no MODUS at that, I can just guess which wont help. You should get rid of it. Every company has problems, Ive been working on cars everyday for 10 years. Toyotas are HANDS DOWN the most trouble free of all.

Go to car fax and find out if it has been in a wreck. It might have been smashed up while still on the car carrier on the way to the new car dealer. If so, your problem could be the body out of shape. If you bought it new then you may have grounds for a new car. Will your garage give you a loaner while they fix it. If they know it's not ready and won't give it back then they might be reputable. Worst case, yes you might have to abandon the car and buy another. Let Toyota USA know what is happening, they might be of some help.

The 1999 Toyota sienna has a very good service record.
It doesn't sound like the car is the problem, it is more likely your mechanic. Many are just part re-placers, they cannot analyze your car and diagnose the problem so it's just change parts until the problem is gone.
Get a different and competent tech. to repair your Toyota.

If your taking it to Toyota for repair, call Toyota directly and tell them about your problem and your frustration. The company will make the dealership get the lead out in fixing it. Look on Toyota's website for a number.
If you are taking it somewhere else, Go get it now before they cost you more money and take it to a better shop.

when you say the gas peddle is sensitive does that mean you are having to feather it (go down and up and somewhere in between it picks up) if so you have water in your fuel or on your plugs. Have you ran your fingers down each one of your plugs if you feel so much as a bump on the rubber wire you have a bad plug and this will do the same thing. Make it run rough and bumpy like and act funny in the gas peddle..Check every wire and your plugs for water or imperfections
