Recently I have discovered that once I finalise a DVD-R or DVD+R it seems like it no longer allows me to fast forward. Is this normal?

for example when you want to play what you recorded on another DVD player or computer. I can fast forward BEFORE I finalise(this is does not mean the end of the movie) the DVD-R, but not after finalisation.

IF YOUR ABLE TO PLAY A DVD THAT HASN'T BEEN FINALIZED ON YOUR PLAYER...
UN-FINALIZE IT!
I KNOW YOU CAN DO THAT WITH SONY TO ADD ADDITIONAL MATERIAL TO A DISC.
YOU MAY HAVE TO RE-READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. MAYBE YOU NEED TO CREATE A MENU OR DIRECTORY FIRST.
EACH COMPANY HAS IT'S OWN SOFTWARE BUILT INTO THE MACHINE AND THEY'RE NOT ALWAYS COMPATIBLE...THAT WOULD BE TOO EASY.
