Only the females bite. The males are necter feeders. The females need a blood meal in order to lay their eggs.
The point of mosquitos is to provide food for the animals that eat them. Like birds and bats. And they also vector disease. That in itself has a place in the balance of life on the planet.

Like everything else on this planet, mosqitoes have a place in the food chain. Purple Martins eat them, many fish eat the larvae and eggs in ponds. It's all part of interdependency.

Only female mosquitoes bite. They only bite before they begin to breed in order to get a little extra nutrition. They bite people who've just eaten bananas more than anything else.

Only the females bite. They need the nutrition in blood for breeding.. Mosquitos may be pests to us but they are smorgasbord for birds, dragon flies, yellow jackjackets, wasps, etc.
Before you ask why we havw yellow jackets and wasps it is because they pollinate our plants.
