Given that a majority of the world's population does not grow taller than 6 feet, why aren't there "short" basketball leagues?

Basketball is a sport where being tall is almost a requirement. Now, this is just ridiculous as no one can "work" at becoming tall. There are probably plenty of good basketball players out there who cannot enjoy the sport at higher levels(not me though!) because they are short.

Wouldn't this be a good idea? It probably is more so than the WNBA!

I agree with you for sure, because not everyone in the world is 6 feet or taller and someone who might be under 6 feet might have an NBA opportunity but will not be allowed in the NBA so you are definitely right.

It's more interesting to see short players like earl boykins and spudd webb in the nba. Besides, a under 6-foot league would be like a minor league that no one watches, so it's not like they're going to be paid nba contracts to play basketball. It is unfair, though that a 7-footer can make the nba with little skill because of the lack of good centers.

Not a good idea, as a business, for the simple reason given by hardtimes_88 above... no one would watch it.

Next thing you know, people under 5 feet tall are gonna want THEIR own leagues!

How about a World Chess Championship for people who aren't all that smart?

Yes this is a pretty good idea, but really good short basketball players can play alongside taller players as point guard. (Allen Iverson, Steve Nash)
