You can't create your views of love based on a movie, and a contrived one at that. If you hold love up to that standard, a completely unrealistic one, you'll be hurt immensly and possibly never be happy.

Remember, movies have the perfect dialogue written and you only see a snippet of life.

Yes, you can find absolute love, but just let it happen - don't hold it up to a fictional love that took place nearly 100 years ago and lasted only 3 days.

Yes! And definitely yes! Actually I saw the Titanic tonight and still weep during and afterwards. The kind of love this movie portrays is indeed true love and unconditional as you've mentioned. Personally I think that's the very closest demonstration of love (on media) that I've ever seen. Many people think that this kind of love doesn't exist only because they don't want it to. Nowadays, love is like a distorted image in some of our minds because most of the world has a different yet strong intake on what love should be. Well, it's up to whoever believes in this kind of love to spread it around and fix the beautiful image of love again. You may remember the portrait of Rose that was drawn by Jack. Well, when the philosophers found that picture at the bottom of the ocean, it was barely visible. But when they put that picture in solution water, it was restored. That's what we need to do today with love. Right now love is like a dirtied up portrait at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean and it's up to us people who knows how to expose real love again. Go get 'em Mel! :)

yes, it does, but it's extremely rare and those who find it extremely lucky. Most of us normal people have the kind of love you have to work at.

Whoever said it's unrealistic is right. I write romance novels. The men are just this side of perfect (perfectly flawed) and the woman he's paired with is his perfect match because I wrote her that way. They compliment each other and are soul mates like in Titanic because I write them that way.

Being somewhat idealistic myself, I can tell you it's better to aim for someone with qualities you like, who have things in common with, who makes you happy and makes you feel good when you're with him. Because if you spend your life looking for Mr. Right, you may very well miss him when he comes along. Because Mr. Right isn't always Mr. Perfect, you know?

Possibility will always exist for anything but REALITY is what's right in your face.

No matter what don't let fantasies & fairy tales consume you. I have a friend like that & she thinks everyone she dates is supposed to be the one till its over or someone else attractive shows interest in her. It's unhealthy & unstable. Everytime she's back single & I think she starts to get it someone comes along & she hops right back on the "Illusion wagon"..

you're looking for a love worth dying for.
and those things dont happen in this day and age of our cynical cynical world. maybe in the days before and during world war 2, when chivalry was still alive. but in todays world. no more. sorry.
