In the book version, just Ally, Noah is still alive and goes on to marry his adult daughter in the book The Wedding.
But, in the movie it made it seem that both Noah and Ally died in each others arms, just like they always were. What a wonderful love story, this is really a true story based on Nicholas Sparks, father-in-laws private diaries. James Garner and Gena Rowland were perfect as this couple.

She finds them both dead.
I know I'm weird, but I didn't really cry during this movie. All my friends were bawling though....
Then again, I'm the same girl who didn't cry during Titanic.....
