my cuz told me i was a prep and i wear preppy cloths cuz i bought like hollster nd abercrombie and fitch and stuff and all my friends tell me i'm a prep most of the time kiddn but what is it?

its preppy, your training for the corperate world where you pay outrageous prices for poor quality clothing that wont last you very long and may look stylish now but by the time you get done paying mommy and daddy's credit cards your clothes are already discarded because they are out of style. I pitty you for falling into this capitalistic cycle so young.

Okay a PREP as people would say is someone who is prideful of themselves. They dress from the hottest stores they think they look prettier than everyone else. They have the newest cell phone or something new that no body else has. I think you are not a prep because you shop at those stores cuz i shop there to that is when i have the money. So anyways just don't be to prideful of yourself and if you don't know what that word means then ask the question.

Preppy clothes are okay. They are a bit more fashionable than other "trends". Think the clothes they wear on The OC (Taylor in particular) - polos, tan pants, sweaters. It kind of looks like you're going to a fancy place to study or work.
I'm from Australia though, where the prep trend isn't widely seen.

Prep stands for prep school- a private school for the upper class. The look is based on their required uniforms- sweaters, button up shirts,etc. At least it did in the 80's, when preppy was first a fad.

You are definitely a prep. Marishka, you're awesome I couldn't have said it better myself. In addition to wasting your money on such stupid clothes, you also have terrible spelling and grammar. You should try reading a book instead of worrying whether you're a prep or not. By the way being a prep isn't something you should be proud of so if I were you I would try to change my style.

when people call you preppy it means you're too cheery. That you care too much about your looks. The type of girl that would freak when she broke her nail or if she had to cook chicken or something. You're very put together, and makeup is your thang. You will get the latest fashionable clothes, make up. Your branded (meaning you wear brand name clothes, hollister and them are examples). Nothing, serious of an accusation.

Preppy, used to be a fashion look for the snooty high-class kids that go to special high schools in PREParation for college. Don't worry about it--it is certainly better than the current hiphop gangsta trash.

the places that you shhop at are considered preppy. It's just a style of clothing basically, like some are punk, emo, or retro, you are preppy (so am I- I shop at the same places you do )
