Do you have to do this in college?

I'm 18 and i'm taking a writing class this summer. (it's a homeschool class for high schoolers) The teacher is telling us that we are going to have to do a super essay which is 16 paragraphs. Has anyone had to do this in college? In highschool? Is this a bit much for a high school class? Just curious...!

It's standard for seniors in high school - as far as papers are concerned.

16 paragraphs?! HA. in college you'll have to do AT LEAST 5-10 page papers. I had to write 50 page short story as a final. pray you never take any politcal science or writing classes in college.

I had to do MANY long papers in college. What is the essay on? In college you will write papers that are 16 pages long not paragraphs...

I think it's excellent. With the way young people spell and write nowadays, a class like this is always good. I've had to do a lot of papers on many different subjects throughout my college days.
Trust me, it helps.

Yes that is normal and usually more then just 16 paragraphs.

In university, my essays were usually 2 000 - 4 000 words long. We did get one that was supposed to be 10 000 words long.

2 000 words are about three pages, at font size 12pts.

yea I had to do something almost like it in high school .... it was a high school program for drop outs to go back and get their diploma though so I'm not sure if high school kids should be doing it

its a pretty basic one..... when its measured in the 20 page minimum that it starts to get hard
