I know!!! Again, a couple of movies ago in the local multiplex....the new one with Nick Cage and the police? My God! I had to turn my head and think of something else before I started crying; I live in Connecticut and worked for American Express Travel when this happened! Our entire World Trade Center office/people were wiped out along with other people I knew from town; Plus having to get all those people we/they booked back from where ever they were stuck for the next 7 days was like reliving it for 7 days solid...enough already; It's one thing to honor our dead quietly and privately and on 9/11 every year; it's another to have the movie moguls continuously throw it in our faces!

There will be movies, books, plays and paintings and songs for decades to come.

All of these means of 'entertainment' are not just there to amuse us. They are a means for us to tell ourselves and one another what we are about, what is important to us, what we aspire to, and collectively they are our CULTURE.

Moreover, they help in the healing process. Look at an abscess: you could cover it up and hope that it goes away, but the only way to rid yourself of the poison is to lance it and let out the pus. So it is with emotional trauma. All the ways of addressing the hurt and trauma of September 11 help society, collectively, to denature the poisonous residue of the event in our hearts and minds.

The film industry being what it is, it has to produce products that not only tell the story but also have a hope of making a profit. It is the nature of the beast, a very complex industry that has to pay not just the actors - which are the only people you ever hear about - but also the clapper loaders, the electricians, prop designers, carpenters etc. etc.

Some day it might be possible to talk and think about September 11 in an unemotional way - but it is far in the future, though closer than if we never addressed the issue.

I think they do it because people still have an interest in it. Sort of the reality series of the movie industry.

The other reason is that I've noticed a lack of creativity in Hollywood. Has anyone else noticed that every movie that is coming out lately is a rehash of some 1970s TV series.

Even Quentin Tarentino's movies that might seem like originals are just compilations of scenes from old movies and TV shows. I know they are referred to as "homage" but it still is just rehashing of old stuff.

Where is all the fresh original talent?

It's a little early because of all the Heartache
But I think America needs a good slap in the face...We should be a lot farther along with our homeland security.

I don't think many people realize the scope of what it takes to defend this country.

I live near Detroit ..with a large Arab community near Dearborn and the Canadian border.
The Detroit river you could almost take a canoe across.
A chemical attack is very real and could be devastating.

AMERICA NEDDS A SLAP IN THE FACE...WAKE UP

I don't think it's purely for profit. We've become complacent about the whole thing. If I had my way, the original footage would be aired every day so no one forgets and everyone stays pi$$ed.

Because Americans are obsessed with sensationalism. Besides, we're spoiled with a huge ego. In short, Americans are still not over the fact that we can be so vulnerable that terrorists can get one over on us.

It's to keep you from thinking about, and seeing all of the other huge issues in, and out of our country. Open your eyes. It's a distraction, and I think they are doing a great job of it. SAD BUT TRUE.

...and yes, it is a very sad memory but then again it is history now, and if we are smart we could learn from it so that it never happens again.

Their are some people that are still alive during the holocaust yet there was movies about that.

Also, I think people, as much I have seen, are forgeting the terrorist attacks.
