My mom thinks so. She just told me when she read the screen.
I think Ryu or Ken from Street FIghter and Sonic the Hedgehog are up there also.

I also think that Mario is the greatest icon for Video games. what classic video gaming company is more memorable than the name "Nintendo"? Mario is fun for kids and the older gamers can remember the good old days of Super Mario World. and the storyline is unique too. How many people would come up with a short, Italian, plumber fighting a giant comical-evil turtle and battling little mushroom enemies in a mushroom kingdom? who doesn't love Mario? (I like Luigi best)

Nintendo has continually been striking at promotion and marketing and with Mario they have done properly. even if now the game marketplace is flooded with those characters: Snake - metal equipment Sonic Nathan Drake carry close chief Mega guy all the characters from Borderlands Mario wasn't initially even said as Mario...sturdy element they replaced it from "Mr. Video" and named the nature after the Nintedo's u . s . headquarters landlord.

If you are under 12 years old then Mario is the bomb, but I'm not in love with Mario anymore my hero is solid snake from the metal gear series. I must admit in my youth i did like the Mario games but link and samus from metroid hold my curiosity theses day's.
